Can we keep using software past its end-of-life date?
Technically yes, but it's a growing liability, not a stable state. Some products offer a paid Extended Security Updates bridge for a few extra years, useful for a planned migration window, not a long-term strategy.
What's the difference between mainstream and extended support?
Mainstream support includes feature updates and free support requests. Extended support is security-patches-only. Once extended support ends, the product is unsupported unless a paid ESU program is purchased.
